Topsoil
Topsoil suppliers are in demand because soils vary enormously in quality. The dominating particle size gives soil its characteristics, especially clay particles which have a huge surface area for a given volume. The two extremes are clay soils which are heavy but potentially fertile and sandy soils which are easier to work but drain quickly after rain, are often very acidic and are low in plant nutrients.
