Spruce ornamental is the ideal bark mulch for most garden applications and is our most popular bark. Its particle size range of 5mm to 35 mm suits the scale of most gardens.
Moisture is retained in soil that has been mulched. The mulch provides an insulating layer that reduces evaporation. Rainfall can easily penetrate the mulch to replenish soil moisture levels. However the impact of heavy rainfall is moderated by the presence of mulch to reduce its impact on the underlying soil which would otherwise be seriously eroded.
Spruce ornamental, like all of our organic mulches, is thoroughly composted for at least sixteen weeks, prior to dispatch. This prevents removal of nitrogen from the underlying soil as the composting process has already taken place.
Ultimately the organic mulch will break down and release the nutrients which it contains into the soil to support further plant growth.

- Help to retain moisture
- Protect against soil erosion due to heavy rainfall

Spruce Ornamental Bark Mulch can be delivered in either Bulk Loads, Bulk Bags or in 75 litre bags:
For Commercial Use: 1000 square metres to a depth of 75mm is 75 cubic metres of Spruce Ornamental Bark Mulch. Available for delivery on an articulated lorry.
For Domestic Use: 40 x 75 litre bags of Spruce Ornamental Bark Mulch will cover 40 square metres to a depth of 75mm. Available for delivery on 1 pallet.

The mulch should be applied to a depth of at least 50mm and preferably 75mm to a surface already cleared of both annual and perennial weeds. Further weed growth will be discouraged, any that do penetrate the mulch will be weakened and can easily be removed . The mulch should not be disturbed after application or the service life of the mulch may be reduced.
An additional 10% to 15% of material should be allowed to compensate for settlement.
